Galt Resident Competes In Special Olympics

A Galt-area resident, Pierce Rash, is among 125 delegates from Missouri Competing this week in New Jersey with nearly 35 hundred Special Olympics athletes from throughout the United States.

According to the Missouri office for Special Olympics, Pierce Rash of Galt teamed with Scott Copeland of St. Joseph in Bocce Ball to place fourth in national competition in the category called “unified doubles”.– just missing out on a medal. 

Rash is representing Trenton and Grundy Countys’ organization known as DAWGS – Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support.

Special Olympics Missouri’s 125 athletes and coaches to have been competing in aquatics, track and field, basketball, bocce, bowling, flag football, golf, power lifting, tennis and volleyball. To meet some of the athletes from Team Missouri, visit www.somo.org/usagames.

Aquatics:
Cody Anderson (St. Joseph): Silver in 200 yard freestyle; bronze in 100 yard medley; silver in the 100 yard backstroke
Nathan Baldwin (Kansas City): Fourth in 25 yard backstroke; gold in the 100 free
Logan Hulett (Moberly): Bronze in 200 yard freestyle
Libby Waddell (St. Louis): Bronze in 100 yard individual medley; bronze in 200 yard freestyle; bronze in the 100 backstroke
Jennifer Neihouse (Lee’s Summit): Gold medal in the 25 fly
Kirstin Carlson (Kansas City): 4th in the 100 backstroke

Athletics:
Octavio Daniel Topete (Carthage): Silver in 400M run
Eric Wright (Camdenton): Gold in 50M run; gold in 100M walk; 4th place in the softball throw
Shelly Antle (Marionville): Silver medal in the softball throw; bronze in the 100M walk
Allen Tobin (Independence): Bronze in the women’s shot put
Jason Coffman (Mexico): 6th place in the men’s shot put
