Jamesport City Council Meets

The Jamesport City Council has voted to transfer $70,000 from the sales tax fund to the street fund to purchase materials for chip and sealing some Jamesport streets.

The community is to do its own chip and sealing work to save money. The City purchased a truck last year to do the oiling.

Jamesport Fire Chief, Davey Davis, told the Council about the need for more operational funds for the fire department. He said dues for the rural community would be raised from $30 to $50 a year beginning in January. The Jamesport Council voted to increase the City contribution to the fire department from $5,000 to $7,500 a year beginning next year.

The Jamesport Council was informed by Ronnie Mann he's interested in selling his 4 lot property on Gilliland Street. The City dumpster and pump station are located in that area. The Jamesport Council took no action on Mann's remarks.

The City of Jamesport is seeking a part-time worker following a resignation.
