|LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV/AP) - Authorities served a ‘high-risk' warrant at a Lawrence home Sunday morning in connection with a Topeka homicide, police said.|
This comes a day after a 20-year-old Topeka man died and two others were wounded in a shooting at a Topeka park on the city's southeast side.
The shooting was reported at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at Freedom Park. When officers arrived all three shooting victims already had been taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.
The two wounded men, ages 18 and 21, were treated at a hospital and released. The name of the man killed was being withheld until his family is notified.
On Sunday, Topeka police, with the assistance of tactical teams with the Lawrence Police Department surrounded a home at West 27th and Louisiana streets, located across the street from South Middle School.
Sgt. Byron Endsley, a Topeka Police Department spokesman, said police executed a search warrant at the home in relation to Saturday's homicide, the city's second of the year.
Police said they were looking for a man driving a red SUV with tinted windows. A similar vehicle was reportedly seen in the driveway of the Lawrence home.
Police would not say the specifics of the warrant or investigation. Authorities declined to comment if anyone was removed from the house.
