CMU entered the NAIA National Tournament ranked #14 in the country, but ran into a tough customer in LSU-A, ranked #2. In Wednesday's game, LSUA seized control of the contest with a three-run second inning. Central Methodist cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the second, however the Lady Generals scored single tallies in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings to pull away. Heather Bunn had a double and a sole homer, part of a 3-for-3 day for the winners.

Utley allowed five runs on seven hits with a walk in 3 1/3 innings of work. Her 26-3 season ties her 2012 record for most in a season in Central Methodist history, and Utley finishes her Eagle career as the all-time leader in wins (94) and strikeouts (559). Her career ERA of 1.50 ranks second all-time.

Utley's senior class, including Megan Robbins, Melanie Wilmsmeyer, Bri Kirkland, Mary Kate Townley, and Bri Ford, are the all-time winningest four-year class in CMU history, with 160 wins, four Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) championships, and three Championship Series titles.
