For Tuesday and Wednesday, above normal temperatures will prevail, from southern Iowa through central Texas. Expect temperatures along the Iowa border to see the greatest gains from Monday, with Tuesday's highs some 10 degrees above Monday's, while areas south of the Missouri River may eek out an "extra degree or two". It is possible for high temperatures to reach the 90's in downtown Kansas City over the next two days.

A strong southwest flow from Arizona and New Mexico will set-up on Wednesday night into Thursday, expected to bring storms into Missouri after sunrise on Thursday, with rain persisting through the pre-dawn hours of Friday, when a cold front will push through the state, ending activity from northwest to southeast.

Thursday's severe weather chances will be effected by morning activity, as storms across Oklahoma could steal moisture from Missouri. Clouds could also inhibit severe chances. Some sheer in the atmosphere, combined with the advancing cold front overnight Thursday, could be sufficient to support severe thunderstorms, with large hail and damaging winds being the primary threats. Intensifying storms could pose a FLOODING risk, with the potential of 1 1/2 inches of rain falling over this time frame.
