Laieloni Knouse, 46, wife of Chillicothe Police Chief Richard Knouse, was charged with a Class B misdemeanor of first-degree trespassing and a Class B misdemeanor of false impersonation after she allegedly attempted to visit an individual at the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail in Pattonsburg on Monday afternoon.

Daviess County Sheriff Ben Becerra said deputies received a call around 2:30 p.m. in reference to a female who was being disruptive and refusing to leave the jail when asked.

“When we were called, my deputies gave her every chance in the world to comply, but finally said that enough was enough,” he said. “She responded, ‘Arrest me then!’ She was also claiming that she was a lawyer of the person she was trying to visit.”

According to court documents, Mrs. Knouse told authorities she was visiting her son and was his co-counsel. Probable cause documents stated that she is not a licensed attorney with the state.

Jail officials declined to provide her son’s name.
Deputies took Mrs. Knouse into custody and she was placed under a $500 cash-only bond. She remained in custody Tuesday night and was ordered to submit to alcohol and/or drug testing if later released on bond.
