MU Senior Among 12 Students Nationwide Selected For Trip To Japan

University of Missouri at Columbia senior, Courtney Leeper, of rural Trenton is among 12 students nationwide selected for a national FFA agriculture-related trip to Japan.

Ms. Leeper is a science and agricultural journalism major with a minor in english.

The trip to Japan is May 18th through 31st. Another University of Missouri student, Dustin Stanton of Centralia, also is among the 12 students chosen to participate. Selections were made through an application process. Ms. Leeper said it included questions about the part of agriculture the students are interested in, and why they're interested in international agriculture.

The national FFA organization and the Grains Foundation fund a portion of the trip to Japan. The participants are asked to raise the rest of the costs through sponsorships and other activities.

Ms. Leeper's responsibility is $4,000. She's asking local organizations and businesses if they'd be willing to be sponsors. Individuals also can help by contacting Courtney Leeper or her parents, Dale and Carol Leeper of 288 Southwest 30th Avenue in rural Trenton.

Ms. Leeper plans to make public presentations about her trip to Japan when she returns:

She was graduated from Trenton High School in 2011. During her senior year in high school, she was the Trenton FFA chapter president and secretary of the Area II FFA. She was the Trenton FFA secretary her junior year of high school.
