Chillicothe Fire Department Responds To Multiple Grass Fires

Chillicothe's fire department responded to a pair of unrelated grass fires Monday, one of them burned a large amount of land.

A report from the Chillicothe fire department said firefighters responded on a mutual aid call to assist the Dawn fire department at the scene off Livingston county road 405. The location is north of Ludlow.

The report stated 300 acres of CRP, conservation reserve program, and the ditches
was burning. Chillicothe firefighters were at the scene for nearly three hours Monday afternoon.

In the early evening, Chillicothe firemen were called to a small grass fire off Livingston County Road 235. This was described as a natural cover fire on a levee that appeared to have started at the road and then spread eastward.

The firefighters were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
