Responding to the scene along Northwest 82nd Avenue, west of Leisure Lake, were firefighters from Grundy County Rural Fire Protection, Jamesport Fire Protection District, and the brush fire team of the Missouri Department of Conservation.

According to a report, the fire began when an unoccupied farm house burned to the ground; then strong winds spread the fire northward. The report indicates well over 50 acres burned. Firefighters basically set up a “back burn” to allow the fire to burn itself out without extending beyond a specific point.

Firefighters were at the scene of the country fire over three hours Monday.

The vacant farmhouse at one time was believed to be owned by Louise
Moore. There were no injuries
