Cameron Woman And Teen Injured In Accident Near Hamilton

|A Cameron woman received serious injuries when the pickup truck she was driving hit a goose-neck trailer being pulled by another pickup near Hamilton.|
Sixty-nine year old Doris Thompson of Cameron was flown by medical helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza at Kansas City.
A passenger in the pickup driven by Ms. Thompson, 16 year old Kasey Thompson of Hamilton, was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center with what the patrol called minor injuries.
The driver of the other pickup, 52-year old Kirk Bellis of Orrick, was not reported hurt.
The accident was Friday afternoon two miles south of Hamilton on Highway 13.
Doris Thompson was northbound and Bellis was traveling south. The patrol said the pickup driven by Ms. Thompson crossed the center line and sideswiped the other vehicle, hitting the front left corner of the gooseneck trailer.
The pickup driven by Ms. Thompson then slid off the left side of the road while the other pickup skidded to a stop, also off the west side of the pavement.
Damage was listed as extensive to the pickup driven by Doris Thompson and minor to the pickup operated by Kirk Bellis.
The patrol said Ms. Thompson was not wearing a seatbelt, but the other 2 people were wearing safety devices.
