Man Who Failed To Register As Sex Offender Charged In Attempted Rape

INDEPENDENCE, MO (AP) - A homeless man who told police he had failed to register as a sex offender has been charged in an attempted rape of an Independence woman in her home prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Davidson Hosteen, 47, faces a charge of second-degree attempted rape.

According to court records, the victim told Independence police that the Hosteen entered her home through an unlocked door Monday about 7 p.m. and tackled her, putting her on the couch. He grabbed her body and breast while kissing her.

The woman's son came home and threw Hosteen out of the home, according to court documents.

Police later arrested Hosteen. He admitted he had failed to properly register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors have requested his bond be set at $100,000.
