The man later died at a hospital.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies found the man in a field near Farm Road 116 and F Highway. Emergency personnel attempted CPR as the man was transported to the hospital, where he was eventually pronounced dead.

The release says there were no signs of physical trauma or foul play, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday in Columbia.

The man is described as being white, in his late 30s or 40s, about 6 feet tall, 175 to 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing Wrangler blue jeans, a dark colored T-shirt with a classic car logo, a camouflage jacket and muddy hunting or hiking boots. The release says he had a “week-old” beard.

The man was carrying a lighter, a pack of Cheyenne cigarettes and a pocket knife, the release says.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (417) 829-6230 or send a message to the department’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/GreeneCountySo.
