The North Mercer Board of Education has agreed to allow teachers to receive additional compensation for their years of service and additional education.

Superintendent, Dan Owens, said the amount will vary, but it could be from $250 to more than $1,000.

The base teachers' pay for a beginning instructor is to remain at $26,750.

The North Mercer Board has agreed to have the district pay up to $500 a month for employee health insurance in the upcoming fiscal year. That's up from $428 this
school term.

All existing teachers have been offered contracts for next school year.

Summer School has temporarily been set for May 29th through June 13th. It's for enrichment for students entering kindergarten through 8th grade.

The North Mercer Board approved submission of a funding application for the 4th year of a 21st Century grant for before and after school programs at North Mercer, Gilman City, Cainsville, Ridgeway, and North Harrison School districts. The amount being sought is $385,000. North Mercer is the fiscal agent for the grant. The application will be submitted to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The North Mercer Board discussed summer projects---including the completion of the agriculture building, Principal's office renovations, locker room, and music room remodeling.
