Second Half Slump Dooms Gallatin Against Powerhouse Panthers

|Through one half of basketball on Wednesday night, the Gallatin Lady Bulldogs were in position to advance to the Class 2 state quarterfinals. However, the second half against the KCI Conference champion North Platte Lady Panthers was not as kind.|
The final score was 56-40 in favor of North Platte. However, the first half saw Gallatin lead for most of the time, only to see the Lady Panthers rally for a 22-21 lead at the break. That run was a sign of things to come for Gallatin, as North Platte's defense dominated, and the trio of Chelsi Sams, Maddie Roberts, and Courtney Kipping controlled the offensive end, as the Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Bulldogs 34-19 over the final two quarters.
Sams led NP with 16 points, with Roberts scoring 14, and Kipping 10. With a record of 27-1, the Lady Panthers advance to the Class 2 state quarterfinals on Saturday at the Independence Events Center, and a meeting with the 24-5 Skyline Lady Tigers, a 61-55 Wednesday night winner over Windsor. The North Platte vs. Skyline game will tip at 12:00 PM. Gallatin, in finishing the season with a record of 24-5, was paced by 13 points from Sara Lin. Kaitlyn Hefley scored nine.
