One Death In Multiple Vehicle Accidents

afternoon in rural Caldwell county with one getting hurt and the other escaping injury.
The highway patrol described injuries as serious for 13 year old Cisco Clariday of Braymer who was flown by medical helicopter to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. He was riding in a truck driven by 16 year old David Campbell of Braymer.
The patrol said the driver lost control of the westbound truck, drove off the south side of Tobin Valley Road, where it overturned several times, coming to rest upright.
Clariday, according to the report, was ejected through the passenger window. Neither occupant was using a seat belt. The accident, two miles west of Braymer, demolished the truck.
A single vehicle accident four miles south of Brookfield yesterday afternoon injured 54 year old Laura Torscher of Marceline. She was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield with what the highway patrol called moderate injuries. Her sports utility vehicle traveled off Inman Road and struck a group of trees. Extensive damage was listed for the S-U-V. The report indicated she was not using a seat belt.
A man from Beiver died yesterday morning nearly 24 hours after being in a Tuesday wreck eight miles south of Macon. 41 year old Val Hedgeworth died at University in Columbia after being injured when he was ejected from his overturning truck on U-S 63. He was not using a seat belt according to the highway patrol report.
