Gilman City Girls Move To District Championship Game

The Gilman City Ladyhawks appear to be peaking at the right time of year, cruising to a 51-28 victory on Tuesday night against Novinger, in the Class 1, District 11 girls semifinals from Grundy R-5 High School in Galt.

Makayla Toombs led Gilman City in the win with 12 points, while Hayley Burrows contributed 10 points and Joslyn Newton 10 points in the victory. Gilman City, on Thursday night at 6 o'clock, will play the fourth-seeded Linn County Lady Mustangs for the District 11 title. Linn County, in a dominant performance over long-time rival Meadville, stunned the top-seeded Lady Eagles in a 48-25 final score. Alexis Miller had 13 points, Megan Schreiner 11, and Brittany Hubbard 11 for Linn County, with Sara Van Dyke scoring 10 points for Meadville. MHS finishes its season at 18-6.
