Princeton Tigers Rally For GRC Win Over King City

Playing without leading scorer Brant Faulkner for the final two minutes of regulation, the Princeton Tigers scored the final eight points of their game against King City on Friday night, winning by a score of 46-40.

Faulkner fouled out with just over two minutes remaining, but led the Tigers with 22 points. Justin Hamilton had the biggest basket of the game, a three-point play with 45 seconds remaining that gave the Tigers the lead for good. He finished with 12 points in the contest, as Princeton finishes the regular season at 15-10 overall, and 3-6 in the Grand River Conference.

King City finishes the regular season at 4-5 in the GRC. The Wildkats, in defeat, were led by 19 points from John Spiking and 10 points from Reagan Law.

The King City Lady Wildkats moved to 7-2 in conference play with a 36-19 road win at Princeton. Senior guard Jordan Breckenridge led King City with 17 points. Princeton's leading scorer was junior forward Paige Phillips, with nine.

The Princeton girls and boys begin postseason play this week in Class 2, District 16 quarterfinal action at East Buchanan High School in Gower. The Lady Tigers take on Maysville on Monday night at 6 o'clock, on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. The fourth-seeded Princeton boys will battle South Harrison on Tuesday night at 6 o'clock.

King City's basketball teams will play in Class 1, District 14 action at North Andrew High School this week. On Monday night at 6 o'clock, the fifth-seeded Lady Wildkats play DeKalb. On Tuesday night at 6 o'clock, the fifth-seeded King City boys duel with Union Star. The North Andrew girls and Winston boys have the #1 seeds in that district tournament.
