Trenton's Mason Mounce Into 170 Pound State Semifinals

|Trenton High School junior Mason Mounce has improved his season record to 42-1, and will wrestle Blair Oaks senior Cole Kemna in the 170 pound Class 1 state semifinals tonight at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.|
Mounce, in Friday morning's state quarterfinal, made quick work of Lawson's Adrean Eskew, pinning the Cardinal freshman at the two minute mark. The other 170 pound semifinal will matchup Lathrop senior Caleb Hartzell and Versailles freshman Willie Schotte.
Trenton freshman Drew Rorebeck remains alive in the wrestle-back round at 126 pounds. Rorebeck was beaten by fall by Adrian's Dakota Jones in Thursday's first round, but rebounded nicely to pin Lathrop sophomore Hunter Dalinghaus at the 49 second mark. In the second round of wrestle-backs, Rorebeck's opponent will be Nathaniel Alexander of Maryville High School, a junior with a season record of 25-5. Rorebeck is 19-13 on the campaign.
Trenton sophomore Wynne Devorss was eliminated from the 138 pound weight class with back-to-back losses at Mizzou Arena. Devorss, on Thursday, was defeated by pin (at 2:52) by Richmond senior Garrison Sanders. Devorss, in a first-round wrestle-back, lost a 6-1 decision to Kurtis Hahn of Whitfield. Devorss' final season record is 23-22.
At 160 pounds, Trenton junior Thomas Mack was bumped out of championship contention with a quarterfinal defeat on Friday morning. Mack lost a 5-1 decision to Maverick Griffin of Kansas City O'Hara. The win moves Griffin's record to 40-1, and into a semifinal meeting with Ethan Leighton of Centralia. Mack opened the state tournament on Thursday morning, pinning Kyle Pudlowski of Brentwood at the 2:30 mark of the first period. Mack's second-round wrestle-back opponent will be Ryker Shelton of Seneca, a senior with a season record of 27-11. Mack's record is 33-7.
At the 285 pound (heavyweight) division, Trenton junior Terrin Ellis is 1-1 through day one of the tournament, and faces a second-round wrestle-back against Craig Graham of Plattsburg late on Friday morning. Ellis was beaten by pin at the hands of John Karsten of Blair Oaks (Jefferson City) in the first round. Ellis advanced by the first-round of wrestle-backs when Gage Boggs of Carrollton bowed out of the tournament due to injury.
