|CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio - A Missouri man—who faces charges of kidnapping and assault of a Hamilton woman from last year— has pleaded guilty to five charges in Ohio and has been sentenced to prison.|
The Associated Press reports a judge yesterday sentenced Brian Adkison to two years in a Correctional Institute near Cleveland. Adkison receives credit for 160 days served since his September arrest in Ohio.
Charges there involved two counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of failure to comply with authorities and one charge of petty theft. A burglary charge was dropped. The failure to comply charges resulted from Adkison stealing a truck and a license plate, then evading Ohio police.
Reports have stated that he was arrested inside a nursing home at Westlake, Ohio.
Morgan County, Missouri sheriff's deputies had arrested the Columbia man last June on charges of kidnapping, sexual assault and forcible rape. Authorities suspect 24 year old Adkison kidnapped MU student, Lauren Crawford of Caldwell County—described as a former girlfriend. She was 23 when the incident occurred near herhome off Highway 13 last June. Adkison then escaped the Caldwell County Detention Center at Kingston in August.
Once Adkison arrives at the Ohio correctional facility, he could be extradited to Missouri to face 11 charges, including kidnapping, rape and jail escape.
He's accused of various crimes in five Missouri counties. On line court records show Caldwell county charges as kidnapping and domestic assault from last June; escape from confinement and damaging jail property from last August. A proceeding in Caldwell County Circuit Court is scheduled in early April.
