The generator was obtained through a grant application submitted to the federal government by Dennis Goldsmith---the Emergency Management Agency Director in Sullivan County.

Goldsmith said this is a good start toward obtaining equipment to aid Sullivan County residents during an unforeseen disaster. He said, throughout this year, the Emergency Management Agency will continue to pursue all available grants for the community.

Sullivan County Presiding Commissioner, Chris May, said the generator makes a significant improvement to the County's ability to survive a sustained power outage. He said it gives the capability to power the entire courthouse, or one of the schools during a disaster. May remarked he looks forward to the newly formed Emergency Management Agency to do more for the County, without increasing taxes.
