NCMC Lady Pirates Club The Comets, Improve To 2-0 In Region XVI

Despite an overall record below .500, the North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates will head to St. Louis this weekend with a perfect 2-0 record in Region 16 play, after a 70-67 win over Cottey College on Tuesday night in Trenton.

Cottey, in falling to 7-10 on the season, led 33-32 at the half, but was unable to sustain the advantage, with North Central learning upon Kayla Oetterer, Samone Redditt, and Nancy Berwanger to grab the win. Oetterer scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Redditt had 17 points and 11 boards, while Berwanger connected on four shots, including a three-point field goal, as part of a 13 point effort for the Lady Pirates.

The game was very close throughout, with Cottey shooting 40.7 percent from the field, to NCMC's 42.9 percent. Both teams made 14 free throws, although the Comets did so in 15 attempts, with North Central taking 22 free throws.

Cottey only received three points from its bench. Leading the Comets with 20 points was Caley Shaffstall. Casey Heger had 17 points and Cassie Hale 15.

The NCMC women's game in St. Louis will be played at 1 o'clock on Saturday, with coverage on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com. The Lady Pirates will play in Nevada, MO against Cottey on February 18th at 6 o'clock.

The NCMC men will host the Graceland JV on Wednesday night at 7 o'clock at the Ketcham Community Center. The Pirates game in St. Louis will be Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with coverage on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.
