|To help expecting and new parents prepare for their new life with a baby, Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton is now offering a Pregnancy Education Seminar multiple times throughout 2014.|
The first seminar will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 8 to 12 noon. The seminars are open to the general public, but are specifically designed for individuals or couples who are currently expecting, or have recently delivered.
Seminar attendees will hear from pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal experts from Wright Memorial Hospital on topics including breastfeeding, birth control, childbirth, immunizations, labor epidurals, newborn care, and postpartum depression. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Maternity Unit at Wright Memorial Hospital.
Jena Eads, R.N., of the Maternity Unit at Wright Memorial Hospital, will lead each of the seminar sessions. The program is designed and supported by Esgar Guarin, M.D., and Pamela Ralls, M.D., obstetricians at the hospital.
“We believe this seminar was something that we needed to develop,” Dr. Ralls said. “New and soon-to-be parents have so much on their minds and they are full of questions. We want to provide them with the education and support they need to be fully prepared and equipped to be parents from day one.”
The remaining dates scheduled for 2014 are Jan. 25, March 29, May 31, July 19, Sept. 20, and Nov. 22. The seminars will take place in the Education Room located at Wright Memorial Hospital, 191 Iowa Blvd. in Trenton. Refreshments will be served. For questions, please call 358-5750.
