Filing Deadline For April Elections Passes

Yesterday afternoon was the filing deadline for the April 8th elections. Schools and nursing home districts are not required to hold elections on April 8th if there's 1 candidate for each of the positions to be filled.

However, cities are required to hold elections on April 8th even if the number of candidates matches the positions.

Persons still can file as write-in candidates at County Clerks offices.

The Trenton City Council has 1 race. Wally Smith is challenging incumbent Chuck Elliott in the 3rd ward. There's just 1 candidate in the 2nd and 4th wards and none in Trenton's 1st ward. 2nd ward Councilman Kenneth Ewing and 4th ward Councilman
Larry Huffstutter are seeking re-election. 1st ward Councilman Jacob Black did not file for another term. The 1st ward seat is to be filled by write-ins.

The Trenton R-9 Board of Education has a race on April 8th. There are 4 candidates for 3 positions. Incumbents Dr. David Whitaker and Kevin Bailey are seeking re-election. The other 2 candidates are Rev. Doug Franklin and Brandon Gibler.

North Central Missouri College is not required to hold an election !April 8th since there are 2 candidates for 2 Board of Trustees seats. Both incumbents, Steve Busch, and Dr. John Holcomb filed to remain on the Board.

The Grundy County Nursing Home District is not required to hold an election April 8th because the number of candidates matches the seats to fill. Don Altes and Barbara Cox filed to remain on the Nursing Home Board.

The City of Laredo has 2 races. Incumbent Rebecca Burns is being challenged by Carol Holloway for Mayor. There are 3 candidates for 2 seats on the Laredo Board of Aldermen----Casady Bethards, Gary Reed, and Helen Golden. None of those Aldermen candidates currently is on the Board.

The Laredo Board of Education does not have to hold an election in April since there are 3 candidates for the 3 seats to be filled. Jim Marsh, Jason Meeker, and Stephen Lowrey filed to remain on the Board of Education.

The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Eduction has 3 positions to fill in April—but just 2 persons signed up as candidates. Current board members Jill Reeter and Tim Allen are seeking to remain on the Board.

The Grundy R-5 Board of Education will not need to have an election in April since there were 3 candidates for the 3 seats to fill. They are Larry Cook, Abe Carver, and Tyson Christy. Cook and Carver currently are on the Grundy R-5 Board of Education.

Both Galt Aldermen with terms expiring in April are seeking to remain on the Board. They are Tom Loghfry in the south ward and Russell Searcy in the north ward. They're the only candidates.

The Spickard Board of Education will not be required to hold an election in April since there were 3 candidates for 3 positions to fill. The candidates are Lindsay Glenn, Kendall Nienhuser, and Roger Bonnett. Lindsay Glenn and Roger Bonnett currently are on the School Board.

The Spickard Board of Aldermen has 3 candidates for 3 positions to fill in April---Betty Lee, Jonin Jaycox, and Patricia Payne. Ms. Lee currently is on the Spickard Board of Aldermen.
