The tea in Chillicothe on Sunday January 5th is held to celebrate the start of Season 4 of the popular PBS series which will air later that evening.

The time period for the English tea event at Chillicothe is from 2 until 4 o’clock.

The event will feature a typical English tea, including tea sandwiches and sweets catered by Anna Marie’s Tea Shop in Liberty and Francine’s Pastry Parlor of Chillicothe. Brenda Hedrick, owner of Anna Marie’s Tea Shop, hosts many English teas. She will present a historical program touching on the tradition of the English afternoon tea and how to properly brew tea.

Livingston County Library Program Coordinator Jean Looff said period costume is encouraged but not required. “Downtown Abbey” themed trivia games and other activities will be included. Prizes also will be given away.

Library Director Robin Westphal said “Downton Abbey” has been one of the most popular television series ever checked out at the Library. Because of what she called “the phenomenon” Livingston county Library has expanded its collection of British period dramas in a DVD collection.

The cost of the January 5th tea and program is $5. Registration is required and can be done by calling 660-646-0547. Payment must be received prior to the event.
