South Harrison Girls Double-Up Albany In Albany Tournament Quarterfinals

|The South Harrison LadyBulldogs beat the Albany Lady Warriors 64-32 on Monday night, in quarterfinal round action from the Albany Basketball Tournament.|
Kaylee Smith led South Harrison led 23 points, with Hunter Purdun adding 18. A. Gully led Albany with 10 points. The win sends the Lady Bulldogs into the semifinals (Thursday at 7:45 PM) against either Stanberry or Princeton. Albany will play in the consolation semifinals on Wednesday night at 6 o'clock.
The other girls final from Albany High School on Monday night was Polo beating Worth County, 65-34. This was on the "pool play" side of the bracket. Adriana Seger led Polo with 15 points, with Sidney Copeland and Danielle Allen both scoring 12, and Tabitha Poje 10 points. Worth County had Sidney Thummel and Claire Andrews both with 11 points. Polo's Lady Panthers will play King City on Thursday afternoon at 4:45, needing a victory to advance to Saturday night's championship game. Worth County will play King City tonight (Tuesday night) at 4:45 from Albany High School.
The Polo boys, in the closest game played on Monday night, held off South Harrison by a final score of 67-61. Jackson Pile scored 26 points, and Parker Smith 25 points for Polo, while Darin Williams scored 18, and Dalton Erwin 14 points for South Harrison. The 'pool play' game was considered an upset by the seeds, with Polo the #6 seed, and South Harrison seeded #3 coming into the tournament.
Polo will play #2 seeded Albany tonight (Tuesday night) at 9:15, needing a victory to secure a spot in Saturday night's championship game. South Harrison will next play on Thursday night at 6:15 against the Albany Warriors.
In bracket play, the top-seeded Stanberry Bulldogs had a workmanlike performance in a 66-51 win over the #7 seed Worth County Tigers. Just a weekend removed from an appearance in the eight-man state championship game, Stanberry featured balanced scoring in the win, with Ryan Jensen scoring 19 points, Alex McQuinn 12, and Isaac Heddinger 11. Brevyn Ross scored 24 points for the Tigers.
The win pushes the Bulldogs into Thursday night's 9:15 semifinal against either King City or Princeton. Worth County will play in the boy's consolation semifinal on Wednesday night at 7:30.
