Lamar Shuts Out Lawson For Class 2 State Title

All season long, Lamar High School had been considered the 'team to beat' in Missouri's Class 2 football competition. The Tigers put their best game on the Edward Jones Dome's turf on Friday afternoon, shutting out the Lawson Cardinals 42-0 to repeat as state champions.

Lamar controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the championship game, opening the scoring on a 31 yard run by Beshore with 1:22 left in the first quarter. The Tigers put the game out of reach in the second quarter, with Beshore adding two more rushing touchdowns (75 and 41 yards), and Tucker scoring on a 25 yard run. Two more rushing scores, both in the third quarter, set the final score at 42-0. Lamar set a Show-Me Bowl team rushing record in the victory.
