|A theft and vandalism occurred over the weekend at two businesses along U-S Highway 65 south of Trenton.|
Nic Hanes, owner of H-D Auto, said four tires and wheels were stolen off a 2001 Monte Carlo he had on the lot for sale. The vehicle, he said, had been left on blocks when Hanes noticed the theft Sunday morning. Hanes described the items as 18 inch Boss wheels with six spokes including a split down the center of each spoke.
There is a security light to illuminate that used car parking lot. Hanes told KTTN he is offering what he called a significant amount of money as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. Hanes added a picture of the stolen tires can be viewed on the facebook page for H-D Auto.
Persons with information are to contact the Grundy county sheriff's department. Hanes stated to him personally, it's not so much about the theft but that someone would steal from a business.
Next door, at The Auto Shawp, Owner Jimmie Shaw said four tires were slashed on a Trenton Police car—a Chevy Impala. The vandalism also was discovered Sunday morning. The car, he stated, had been parked in the lot to move emergency lights and siren over to a new police vehicle. The lot is illuminated by a security light on a pole. Both of the targeted cars were parked right next to Highway 65. Grundy county sheriff's department is investigating the incidents.
