|A veterans benefit will be held today from 9 to 3 o’clock at Hy-vee Food Store in Trenton.|
Veterans Service Officer Wayne Kleinschmidt of Trenton is to be at HyVee to meet with veterans and assist with those wanting to enroll in V-A.
A Veterans’ benefit is Friday December 6th at the V-F-W Post in Trenton.
The Friday event is from 9 to 2 o’clock. A Vet Center Councilor from Kansas City will be present starting at 10:30 Friday morning to help veterans with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), readjustment counseling, and other Veterans issues.
Veterans are asked to bring their DD-214, and all V-A paperwork with them.
All Veterans who have not heard anything from the V-A on their claim for more than a month are asked to stop by. This especially includes persons who’ve been waiting ten months or more since their last ratings decision from the V-A.
It has been brought to the attention of Wayne Kleinschmidt that some claims have had issues that can be fixed if addressed soon enough.
If you have never enrolled with the V-A, Kleinschmidt said now is the time to do so. With the WW2, Korean, and Vietnam Veterans passing away, the head count in the V-A system has fallen to what is described as an all time low. If you have served in the military, or currently serving, enroll to receive V-A benefits. Veterans service officer Wayne Kleinschmidt of Trenton says if you are a Veteran and enrolled in the V-A, you are exempt from Obamacare. The office phone number for Wayne Kleinschmidt is 359-2078Monday through Friday 8 to 5.
