Grundy County Looks To Provide Affordable Health Insurance To Employees

Grundy County officials will continue working with a Trenton company, Assure Missouri and agents Larry Bunnell and Bob Barnes, for employee health insurance. But the coverage for next year involves a combination of two plans -- one from Blue Cross Blue Shield and the other from Colonial Life.

It's anticipated insurance premium rates will be about the same if not a little bit less than this years' cost.

The monthly premium is to be just over 395 dollars ($395.64) per covered employee. The cost per individual is listed as 98-dollars 92-cents. That's 30 cents a month than the current amount withheld from paychecks. Health insurance costs include 75 percent paid by the county and 25 percent by the employee.

Grundy county has about three dozen full time employees participating with health insurance coverage. Others have plans through their spouses' employment.

Features of the health insurance coverage, beginning January 1st, include a 35 hundred dollar deductible and the same amount for maximum out of pocket expense. There will be a 40 dollar office visit co-pay. The plan also continues three tiers of coverage including medical and prescription.
