Crews from Trenton Municipal Utilities today are working on cleanup following high winds yesterday afternoon that caused damage and knocked out Electrical power to some 200 customers at Trenton.

T-M-U director Chad Davis said employees also are checking the height of lines for clearance.

He noted eight damaged power poles were broken, in most cases, snapped at ground level so they can not be re-used. While the poles toppled over, Davis said T-M-U was fortunate that main lines did not break as those lines were the only thing holding the broken poles up off the ground as they leaned over. The affected area was north of the intersection of Oklahoma Avenue and Industrial Drive.

Davis explained the poles were replaced last night. Initially, Davis said there were discussions about short term, temporary repairs. But local officials opted instead to undertake permanent repairs on an emergency basis. Davis indicated some tasks are to be completed over the next few days to finalize repairs.

He doesn’t anticipate any outages to complete the final part of the work.
