Trenton High School Hosts 2013 Football Banquet

The 2013 Trenton High School football banquet was held last (Thursday) night at the THS Commons.

Fifty-one young men were honored for their participation with the Bulldog football team, while the football cheer squad was noticed for their hard work and dedication through the season and the summer in preparation for the season. The football cheerleaders will be losing five members to graduation next spring.

After thanking those that helped with the day-to-day and weekly operation of the THS football program, Coach Wes Croy spoke of his players, consisting of 14 freshmen, 15 sophomores, and 12 juniors. Croy had a special message for the junior group:

Ten seniors, eight of whom played all four years in high school, were recognized by Coach Croy.

Individual awards went to Spencer Harris as outstanding freshman, Travis Leeper for outstanding sophomore, Dalton Ellis as outstanding junior, Nick Gass for most improved, Layton Harkins for “Hustle and Desire”, Trey Shields as “Hitman of the Year”, Novie Rorebeck as “Scout Team Player of the Year”, Charlie Hoffman as Special Teams Player of the Year, Josh Davis as Offensive Lineman of the Year, Garrett Runnells as Defensive Player of the Year, and Colton Neff as Offensive Player of the Year.

That left the most prestigious award given out by the Bulldog coaching staff to finish off the night:

Trenton finished the 2013 season with a record of 4-6, losing to Brookfield in the district quarterfinal round.
