|Two women were injured Monday when a sports utility vehicle and a pickup collided two miles west of Gallatin.|
Both vehicles were westbound on State Highway 6 when, according to the Highway Patrol, one driver attempted to make a left turn and her pickup was hit from behind.
The patrol described injuries as serious for one driver, 19 year old Breanna Jones of New Hampton who was taken by ambulance to the Liberty Hospital. Driver of the westbound pickup, 51 year old Tina Esbeck of Gallatin, received what the patrol called minor injuries. She was taken by private vehicle to the Cameron Regional Medical Center. Both the S-U-V and the pickup truck were demolished in the wreck early Monday afternoon. The report said Ms. Esbeck was using a safety device; while Ms. Jones –the most seriously hurt--was not using a seat belt.
After impact, the report stated the S-U-V driven by Ms. Jones went off the north side of Highway 6 and struck a utility pole. The pickup operated by Ms. Esbeck crossed the opposite lane and went off the south side of the road.
