Bauer, during his sophomore year in 2011, committed to the Missouri program, but after the Tigers 5-7 record in 2012, he reopened his recruitment, and subsequently gave a verbal pledge to the University of Mississippi. On Monday, Bauer chose to come back to his home-state school. It is believed that it was not the 5-7 season, but rather the questions about the job status of Head Coach Gary Pinkel, that caused Bauer to get cold feet over Mizzou. This year's 8-1 start helped to solidify Pinkel's job security at MU.

Bauer is a 6 foot, 6 inch, 304 pound prospect, rated by as the top prospect in Missouri for the Class of 2014. He is the 11th ranked offensive tackle across the country and the 105th highest-ranked recruit overall.
