Halloween Morning Accident Near Osborn Injures Four

Four people were injured and taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, as a result of a two-vehicle accident just before 7 o'clock on Thursday morning, 1 1/2 miles north of Osborn, at the intersection of Missouri Highway 33 and U.S. Highway 36.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that a vehicle, driven southbound on Highway 33 by 60-year old Roger Gaiser of Osborn, was crossing the eastbound lanes of Highway 36. While crossing, Gaiser's pickup truck was hit by an eastbound vehicle on Highway 36, driven by 39-year old Janene Parton of St. Joseph. The impact caused both vehicles to go off the southeast corner of the intersection, coming to rest in a field.

Mrs. Parton received injuries described as SERIOUS by the Highway Patrol, while her daughters (passenger in her vehicle), 5-year old Christina Parton and 5-year old Sarah Parton, both suffered minor injuries. Roger Gaiser's injuries were described as MODERATE by the Patrol. The accident occurred at 6:58 on Halloween (Thursday) morning. The Osborn Fire Department provided assistance at the scene.
