MU Women Overcome Slow Start, Beat SW Baptist 79-53

The Mizzou women's basketball team had five players score in double figures, and led by as many as 31 points, in a 79-53 victory over Southwest Baptist in an exhibition game on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.

Southwest Baptist jumped out to an early 16-8 lead, but the Tigers would dominate the remainder of the first half, cruising to a 35-19 lead by halftime. Sophomore Lianna Doty and senior Bri Kulas combined for 22 points in the first half, with the Tigers youth taking control in the second half, as freshman Jordan Frericks scored 16 points, to go with four rebounds and fellow freshman Kayla McDowell came off the bench to score 11 points. Freshman forward Sierra Michaelis (from Mercer, Missouri) played six minutes for Mizzou, scoring three points, to go with four rebounds, one assist, and one turnover. Just over 1,000 (1,089) fans were in attendance at Mizzou Arena.
