Suddenlink To Raise Service Prices

The basic television service; the digital family, movie, sports and information TV packages, the rental fee for an HD digital converter box, and the rental fee for standard and Wi-Fi modems all are going up $1 a month. The expanded basic television service is going up $3 a month.

The entry-level high speed Internet service will increase $2 monthly. All other high-speed Internet services are going up $3 a month.

The broadcast station surcharge will increase 18 cents a month.

Suddenlink also says taxes, fees, and surcharges will be adjusted accordingly.

In a letter to Trenton Mayor, Nick McHargue, Suddenlink indicates the adjustments are necessary because of the rising cost of TV programming, equipment, insurance, network expenses for Internet services, and other factors.

The fees that channel owners charge for basic cable networks will increase an estimated
14% next year, approximately 7 times greater than the rate of inflation. Suddenlink reports it's absorbing some of the increase, and passing along some of it to customers.

The company said its bundled packages of two or more services which can help many customers off-set the adjustments and potentially save money. Suddenlink says that 6 out of 10 of its customers bundle.
