|The Trenton Bulldogs suffered a loss on the scoreboard Friday night at C.F. Russell Stadium, 44-27 to the visiting Fightin' Orioles from Concordia High School, but the injuries suffered by the Bulldogs during the course of the game could be just as damaging.|
Trenton lost starting running back Colton Neff to an ankle injury late in the first half, and Head Coach Wes Croy, in a postgame interview, said Neff is "doubtful" to play in the Bulldogs district quarterfinal game at Brookfield this week. Defensive tackle Terrin Ellis injured a leg in the first half, while a number of other players, including Aaron Anderson, were seen limping throughout the course of the game, part of a tough night for the Bulldogs.
Trenton did take the lead first on Friday night, with Neff diving it from three yards out, with 8:24 remaining in the first quarter:

Concordia scored the next 30 points of the game, with the passing and running threat provided by senior quarterback Austin Hon giving the Bulldog defense fits. Hon scored on a 60 yard run with 7:35 remaining in the first quarter (tying the game at 6), before connecting with Ross Heimsoth on passes of 32 and 65 yards later in the quarter. The game stayed at 22-6 going into the half.
A one-yard touchdown run by Hon midway through the third quarter gave the Orioles a 30-6 lead, before Trenton's offense found a surge late in the third, as Coach Croy went to the bag of tricks for a score:

A Kurtz interception followed two plays into Concordia's next drive, and just 56 seconds after the Kurtz touchdown catch, Leeper found the end zone:

The two-point try failed, leaving Trenton down by 10 points (30-20) heading into the fourth quarter.
The Fightin' Orioles scored a back-breaking score for Trenton's hopes of a comeback with 8:51 to go, on a 40 yard pass from Hon to Schlueter, but the Bulldogs, showing strong resolve, cut the lead to 38-27 with 6:17 to go:

The Bulldogs never got closer, and Concordia's Heimsoth caught his third touchdown pass of the night, a 27 yarder with 1:28 remaining, to complete the scoring.
The win sends Concordia into district play with a record of 7-2. The Trenton Bulldogs, now with a record of 4-5, will need to 'right the ship' as THS has lost a chance to host a district quarterfinal game, and will head to Brookfield for the second consecutive year, to battle the Bulldogs on Friday night at Burlington Field. The Class 2, District 8 quarterfinal will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com, with pregame at 6:30 and kickoff at 7 o'clock on Friday night (November 1st).
