Community Cleanup To Be Held At Humphreys

Plans have been announced for a community cleanup effort on Friday at Humphreys.

No classes are Friday in the Grundy R-5 school district. Students and adults are invited by Humphreys community betterment to conduct the litter cleanup project and take part in a scavenger hunt.

Volunteers meet at 10 o’clock Friday morning at the Humphreys community building. They will form groups, received an assigned area, get trash bags, along with the rules for the scavenger hunt.

Volunteers return to the community building at 1 o’clock for lunch that will be provided for them. The cleanup will resume, if necessary at 2 o’clock. Volunteers are to meet at 3 o’clock at the community building for snacks and prizes. Adults and older-age children are needed to supervise groups of younger children who participate in the cleanup.

Volunteers also could supply cookies, brownies, or finger food snacks. The phone number to call for more information is 654 3057.

In news from the Grundy R-5 school district, classes will be dismissed early Thursday to allow for parent teacher conferences. Galt dismisses at 11:30 and Humphreys lets out at 11:40.

Conferences are from 1 to 6 o’clock Thursday. P-T-O carnival at the elementary building is from 5 until 7:30 Thursday night.

Next week, “red ribbon days” stressing drug awareness efforts, will be observed October 29th, 30th, and 31st.
