Jameson Read Case Continued; Related Cases Scheduled To Appear

A preliminary hearing has been continued until next month in the Grundy County Circuit Court for a Trenton man accused in the shooting death of another man.

24 year old Jameson Read now faces three felony charges in Grundy county:

An amended charge of first degree murder, armed criminal action, and abandonment of a corpse. Read, upon his arrest July 6th, was charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action. The prosecuting attorneys' office recently upgraded the charge to First degree murder and added the felony charge involving alleged abandonment of a corpse.

52 year old John Vencill was killed July 3rd at a residence in the 23-hundred block of Speedway. Vencill's body was discovered in a car partially submerged in a farm pond in rural Sullivan County July 6th.

The preliminary hearing for Jameson Read is now scheduled November 12th at 1:30 in the associate division of Grundy County Circuit Court.

Read, and 24 year old Ryan Vencill of Trenton, have felony assault cases pending
in Sullivan County stemming from an alleged July 4th attack at Humphreys on another Trenton resident. Authorities in Sullivan county say 17 year old Tristan Vencill sustained serious physical injuries. Read is awaiting a date in the associate division of court while Vencill is to be arraigned today in Division One of Circuit Court at Milan after recently waiving a preliminary hearing.

Also in Sullivan County, 55 year old James Bowe of Humphreys has a preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon at 1:30 regarding multiple felony counts stemming from early July incidents. Bowe was initially arrested on two counts of unlawful possession of firearms on July 6th. Additional charges have since been filed by the Sullivan County Prosecuting Attorney's office.

James Bowe faces charges, related to July 3rd incidents, that include assault in the first degree, inflicting serious physical injury; unlawful possession of a firearm; two counts of hindering prosecution; and two counts of tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.
