|Saturday's victory for the Trenton Bulldogs has helped THS tighten its hold on the #4 spot in the Class 2, District 8 standings, and a potential quarterfinal playoff game at C.F. Russell Stadium on Friday, November 1st.|
Bishop LeBlond, despite a 3-3 overall record, has been boosted by good overall play and the tough Midland Empire Conference schedule, pushing the Golden Eagles to the top spot in the district standings, with 43.84 points. The Lathrop Mules, after a dominating win over North Platte on Friday night, made the move to #2 this week, with 41.33 points. Just behind the Mules, despite a head-to-head victory over Lathrop, is Lawson. The Cardinals sit at 41 points, falling in the standings after a loss at East Buchanan. Trenton is just behind the Cardinals, with the Bulldogs enjoying the combination of bonus points from playing Class 3 schools the last two weeks, along with the on-the-field victory over the Lincoln Prep Blue Tigers. The Bulldogs have 40.67 points.
Trenton was able to extend its lead over Brookfield to 4 1/2 points, with a tight, slow-scoring win at South Shelby leaving Brookfield with 36.17 points. Carrollton is sixth in the standings, followed by Lexington and Plattsburg.
If the season ended today, the quarterfinal games in District 8 would be:
Plattsburg at Bishop LeBlond
Lexington at Lathrop
Carrollton at Lawson
Brookfield at Trenton
