Milan Wildcats Move To 2-0 In Conference Play, 34-6 Over Scotland County

In Tri-Rivers Conference play, it's a familiar story for the Milan Wildcats, stout defense creates field position, and the running attack wears down the opponent for a Friday night Wildcat victory. That formula worked again on Friday night, in a 34-6 final over the visiting Scotland County Tigers.

The first quarter created some anxious moments for the Wildcats, who faced a rare deficit after Scotland County freshman Ian See snagged a touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 6-3 lead. That would be the only offensive highlight of the night for the Tigers.

Milan grabbed the lead back on a Kevin DeRyke touchdown run of six yards, and extended the halftime advantage to 17-6, with DeRyke rumbling into the end zone from 11 yards out. Raul Palacios hit both extra points for the Wildcats.

Palacios added a third quarter field goal to push the advantage to 20-6. A late third quarter touchdown plunge by Aaron Richardson, and a fourth quarter touchdown finished out the scoring.

Milan, now 5-0 on the season, and 2-0 in the Tri-Rivers Conference, will travel to Schuyler County High School to battle the Rams on Friday night (October 11th). The game from Queen City will kick at 7 o'clock, with coverage beginning at 6 o'clock on KTTN FM 92.3. Last Friday night's homecoming win over Scotland County was also broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.
