Princeton Lady Tigers Roll To Tournament Title

The Princeton softball team began to "tune-up" for district play with three dominating victories on Saturday, in the annual Princeton Invitational Tournament.

Princeton blasted Braymer in a three-inning affair 15-0, rolled passed Hardin-Central 13-2 in 4 1/2 innings, and downed Southwest Livingston 9-0.

Shaylee Henley had six RBI's for Princeton over the three-game sweep, with Rachelle Parks scoring a total of six runs. Ashton Summers had four RBI's. Chelsie Jones pitched the games against Braymer and Southwest Livingston, throwing a combined eight innings and striking out six batters while giving up only five hits. Freshman Haley Johnson pitched against Hardin-Central, and was able to escape a bases-loaded jam in the third inning, giving up only one run.

Heading into Monday night's regular season finale against North Harrison, Princeton is now back on the "right side" of the .500 mark, at 10-8 on the season. That record improved to 11-8 with a 20-8 beating of the Lady Shamrocks.

Princeton is seeded #1 for the Class 1, District 15 softball tournament that starts later this week in Eagleville (North Harrison High School).
