Princeton Lady Tigers Fall In Extra Innings, 4-3

The Princeton Lady Tigers gave up a run in the top of the eighth inning to visiting Worth County on Tuesday night, with the girls from Grant City hanging on for the 4-3 Grand River Conference victory.

Worth County, with single runs in the second and third inning, took an early 2-0 lead, only to have Princeton rally with runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings for a 3-2 lead. Worth County tied the game in the sixth with a single tally.

Trinity Kile led Princeton's offensive attack with a 3 for 4 night. Paige Phillips had two hits. For Princeton, Tuesday night's game was highlighted by the 100th strikeout of the season for starting pitcher Chelsie Jones, who pitched eight innings, allowed four runs (two earned), on seven hits, and nine strikeouts.

The loss drops Princeton's record to 6-8 overall, and 2-7 in the GRC. Princeton, in particular, was hurt by a lack of clutch hitting, with the Lady Tigers leaving nine runners in scoring position. Princeton will HOST Newtown-Harris on Thursday night.
