|The Trenton Bulldogs started well, but a poor middle section in Friday night's game at Pembroke Hill High School doomed the Bulldogs in their second straight defeat, 33-13 to the host Raiders, in action heard on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.|
After the first quarter ended scoreless, but with Trenton on the move, the Bulldogs punched the ball into the end zone with a one-yard plunge by Travis Leeper in the first minute of the second quarter. The extra point attempt by Johnathan Lamp failed, leaving the score 6-0. On the ensuing kickoff, the Trenton special teams gave up a long kickoff return of over 60 yards to set up the Raiders inside the Bulldog 20. The defense played tough from there, forcing a 4th down, but a pass interference penalty proved key, as the Raiders scored the touchdown and kicked the extra point for the lead they would never relinquish.
A touchdown later in the quarter, but a missed extra point, left the halftime score at 13-6. The second half was worse for the Bulldogs, who gave up two touchdowns to Pembroke Hill on long, time-consuming drives to push the score to 27-6. A fourth quarter touchdown made the score 33-6, with THS finishing the scoring on a 58-yard scoring strike from Dalton Ellis to Chris Kurtz. The Lamp extra point left the final at 33-13.
