Law Enforcement Checks Seat Belts At Chillicothe

The Chillicothe Police Department and the Highway Patrol held seat belt compliance checks near the Central School during a 45 minute period ending at 8 o'clock yesterday morning.

10 citations were given—4 involving child restraints, 4 concerning adult seat belt usage, 1 involving seat belt usage for a child under 16, and concerning a stop sign. 3 warnings also were given.

Chillicothe Police Captain, Tony Kirkendoll, said the Police Department appreciated the assistance from the Highway Patrol.

Captain Kirkendoll also said, as a result of safety checkpoints around school zones, authorities are seeing the compliance ratio increasing and the number of violations decreasing. He said the purpose of the operations is to increase safety for drivers and occupants of vehicles.
