THS Softball Falls to P.C. Midgets, 4-3

|The Trenton Lady Bulldogs lost a heart-breaker on the softball diamond Monday night, falling to the visiting Putnam County Lady Midgets 4-3 in a varsity game played at Johnson Field, and broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.|
Putnam County scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning, with a slicing liner by Kelsie Ream going into the left-field corner for a triple, scoring Shaylee Salisbury from third base. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Trenton hit into "tough luck", leading off and finishing the inning with line-drive outs to Putnam County infielders, leaving McKinley Hurley stranded at third base in the process.
Trenton took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, with Cassidy Cotton knocking in Tosha Wilson with a two-out single. Tom Johnson had the play-by-play call:

Putnam County rallied with four straight hits to grab the lead away in the fourth inning, with Kaisee Perkins hitting a lead-off triple, Haley Bradshaw a double to drive her home, Kennedy Childers a sinlge, and Jacey Valentine an RBI single. The Lady Midgets extended the lead in the fifth inning to 3-1, with a Bradshaw double driving in Perkins from first base.
Trenton put up a two spot in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game at 3. Tosha Wilson led things off with a single (her second hit of the game), and was sacrified to second base by McKinley Hurley. That brought senior catcher Madi Trump to the plate:

Down 4-3 in the seventh inning, Trenton hit two line-drives into outs, with Wilson and Capeder hitting into tough luck, leaving McKinley Hurley, who walked, stole second, and moved to third on a wild pitch, stranded at third.

Trenton, now on a two-game losing skid, is 9-3 on the season, while the Lady Midgets move to one game above the .500 mark. The Lady Bulldogs play AT LEXINGTON on Tuesday night at 5 o'clock, before hosting district rival Cameron on Thursday night at 5 o'clock.
The Trenton JV, on Monday night, rolled over Putnam County by a final score of 11-2. Daryian Otto was the winning pitcher, throwing three shutout innings, allowing no runs and one hit, while striking out five.
Whitley Richman pitched one inning, allowing a run on two hits with a strikeout.
Emily Lynch led the way with the bats, going 2 for 2 with two runs scored. Tenna Roberts scored two runs on a 1 for 2 evening, while Jessi Wescott, Jaylen Neff, and Ayri Ortiz all scored runs. Abby Miler had an RBI.
Trenton MIDDLE School, playing at Unionville on Monday night, rolled over Putnam County, winning Game One by a 7-4 final score and game two by a final of 13-1.
Trenton's JV plays tonight (Tuesday night) at Lexington. TMS softball next plays tonight at Gallatin (at 5 o'clock).
