Police Chief Tommy Wright explained the goal of the Safe to School traffic patrol saturation is to enforce child safety seat and seat belt usage laws as well as provide an increased law enforcement presence to deter speeding and other traffic violations.

According to Chief Wright, 19 citations were issued during the morning hours. The most were nine violations of the child safety restraint law.

Chief Wright said he’s looking to increase the opportunities of forming more partnerships in
traffic enforcements with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Chief Wright encourages
community members to not only ensure their children are properly placed in car seats and seat belts, but to report drivers who fail to protect their children by allowing those children to ride unrestrained in a motor vehicle.

The results of the combined effort are as follows:
1. Child Restraint citations - 9
2. Adult no seat belts citations - 3
3. No Insurance Citations - 2
4. Intermediate Drivers License Violation citation - 1
5. Drivers License warning citations - 3
6. Seat Belt Warning Citations – 1
