The Princeton Lady Tigers are playing some of the best basketball of any team in the region, winning their fifth game in a row on Tuesday night, 61-31 over the visiting Albany Lady Warriors, in Grand River Conference action from Princeton broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. The win improves Princeton's record to 12-10 on the season.

The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates, smarting after a mid-week loss to Cottey College at the Ketcham Community Center, were able to find some positive momentum on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Fayette and defeating the Central Methodist University JV squad by a final score of 93-59.

The North Mercer basketball teams continue to roll towards potential #1 seeds in district play, both picking up double-digit victories on their home floor against visiting Milan on Monday night, in a doubleheader broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

The Princeton girls and boys, in Friday night hoops action broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and 'Internet TV', split a pair of varsity games at Worth County High School. The Princeton girls won the opener, 57-49, with the Worth County boys rallying in the fourth quarter to take the nightcap, 65-57.

The Midland Empire Conference is known across northwest Missouri as a 'big school conference that plays physical, defensive-minded basketball'. Never was that mindset more on display than on Saturday afternoon at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton, where the St. Joseph Lafayette girls took out the state-ranked Trenton Lady Bulldogs, 36-21.

The Trenton girl's and boy's varsity basketball teams both fell behind by double digits early in their games on Tuesday night at Lawson, and despite a number of spirited rallies, particularly from the Lady Bulldogs, THS went down to defeat to the host Cardinals, 51-39 in the girls contest and 50-26 in the boy's game, in contests broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

In the first of at least TWO matchups between #2 ranked Trenton and #9 ranked Hamilton, the outstanding play of senior guard Elsie Greenwood proved too much for the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday night, with the Missouri S&T bound Penney product sizzling the nets for 35 points, with Hamilton earning their own tournament title with a 51-45 win.

The Trenton boys lost an overtime thriller, while the girls rolled to their 16th victory of the season, in the Hamilton Tournament semifinals, played Thursday night and broadcast live on Hot Country Z 101.7 and 'Internet TV'.

The Trenton girls and boys basketball teams were challenged by squads from Bethany and Lathrop on Tuesday night, but strong fourth quarter surges by the Bulldogs sent both THS teams into Thursday night's semifinal round, with quarterfinal wins in the Hamilton Basketball Tournament.

The North Central Missouri College Pirates were able to play their style of basketball, namely a grinding, tough defensive effort combined with timely offense, and in the process picked up their biggest win of the basketball season on Saturday, 64-61 over the visiting St. Louis Archers. Redshirt sophomore Marshon Norfleet scored 20 points in the victory, including the game-winning basket and free throw with 2.5 seconds remaining in the second half. The Trenton Bulldogs won all THREE games played on Wednesday night at the THS Gymnasium against the Plattsburg Tigers, with the JV girls winning their final game of the season, followed by the varsity squads rolling to double-digit victories, as heard on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com.

The Trenton Bulldogs will open district wrestling competition this coming Friday night, February 8th, at South Harrison High School in Bethany. The tournament will continue into Saturday, February 9th. Trenton wrestled last week at Higginsville (Thursday) and at the Lexington Tournament (Saturday).

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs broke a two-game losing skid, while the Trenton boys broke a three-game slide, with home court victories over the Milan Wildcats on Thursday night, in a doubleheader broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and 'Internet TV'.

The North Arkansas Pioneers survived a second half surge from North Central Missouri College and beat the Pirates on Saturday afternoon, 93-90 in overtime, to improve to 17-3 on the season. The victory is the second for North Arkansas against NCMC in 2013, with both games going extra time.

The North Central Missouri College women, in action broadcast Wednesday night on Hot Country Z 101.7, struggled in the second half of a Region 16 contest with Cottey College, falling by a final score of 71-48, dropping NCMC to 9-13 on the season, and 0-4 in Region 16 play.

The Milan Lady Wildcats rallied in the fourth quarter for an important Tri-Rivers Conference win against Scotland County on Friday night, part of a varsity doubleheader broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and 'Internet TV'.

The Chillicothe Hornet wrestlers won five matches to Trenton's four in 'on-the-mat' competition on Tuesday night at Trenton High School. However, Chililcothe won four other weight classes by forfeit while giving up just one forfeit to the Bulldogs. The end result was Chillicothe winning the dual, 48-24.

The North Central Missouri College men's basketball team has won FOUR games in a row, including two in a row at home against their biggest region rivals. On Wednesday night at the Ketcham Community Center, the Pirates played consistently strong basketball in defeating the visiting Penn Valley Scouts by a score of 88-73.
