Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox says the Water Patrol division of the Missouri Highway Patrol, on Wednesday, assisted the Sheriff's Department, in river searches for stolen property. Sheriff Cox says some of the areas are more than six feet deep and his office 'does not have the proper equipment for such a search'.

Trenton FFA member Sheridan Jamvold competed yesterday at the state finals of the Missouri Pork Producers pork speaking contest held in Columbia. Sheridan was one of six students competing. The theme for the contest was “Opportunities in the Pork Industry”.

Secretary of State Jason Kander has announced grants for libraries in Mercer and Livingston Counties. Each allocation is called an "eReader exploration grant". The Livingston County Library in Chillicothe was awarded $1,750 while the Mercer County Library of Princeton was allocated $966.00.

Two Cameron residents were hurt when a small (Polaris) utility vehicle overturned in a pasture west of Polo. An occupant, 21-year old Taylor Arinze, was taken by private vehicle to Liberty Hospital with what the Highway Patrol called SERIOUS injuries.

The Milan C-2 School District, in addition to Green City, Princeton, and Putnam County (Unionville) have announced plans to have buses travel on HARD-SURFACED roads only today (Friday). Trenton Middle School students claimed the top two spots in the annual Grundy County Spelling Bee held yesterday (Tuesday). Winning the competition was Hannah Kennebeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kennebeck. Second place (alternate) is Tanner Franklin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Franklin.

The City of Chillicothe has announced the employment of Chuck Greever of Chillicothe as the city's Building Codes Enforcement officer. Greever has been employed by Liberty Carbon Services in Excelsior Springs, where he has been a contractor working on special projects and equipment utilities maintenance.

The Princeton Board of Education has accepted the resignation of Princeton Elementary School Principal John Smith, effective at the end of the current school year. Smith is currently on paid administrative leave.

A Holt resident received what the Highway Patrol called SERIOUS injuries when he fell from a four-wheeler and was run over by the machine. That happened after his pant leg was caught in a wheel and he was pulled off the machine.

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reports an arrest has been made stemming from investigations into an alleged felony assault with a weapon, kidnapping, and endangering the welfare of a child. The incident began in another county, and led through Carroll into Livingston County.

A member of the Spickard Board of Aldermen has resigned. Nancy Anderson is leaving her seat on the town board. The mayor appointed, with city council consent, Janice Vandevender, to the position to fill the remainder of the term until the April alderman election at Spickard.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has received information about a specific Facebook profile where a person is claiming to be an adult, with the last name "Crawford", and living in an 'unknown location'. Sheriff Steve Cox said that profile has been in contact with numerous young people, who are also on Facebook.

Law enforcement officers in Cameron are looking for an individual suspected of robbing the Casey's General Store in northern Cameron just past 4:30 on Wednesday morning. The location is 405 West Grand Avenue.

Missouri elementary, middle and home-school students have until March 8 to participate in the 2013 “Yes You CAN Make Missouri Litter-Free” trash-can-decorating contest. The annual contest is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) as part of the state’s “No MOre Trash!” statewide litter prevention campaign.
