KTTN/KGOZ News : DAWGS to host "Festival of Trees" on November 23rd

The Disabled Athletes With Grundy Support (DAWGS) organization will hold its fifth annual Festival of Trees on Friday, November 23rd at the Trenton Rock Barn. New this year will be a Christmas Parade at 4:30, with trees and wreaths to be seen from 5 to 7 o'clock, and entertainment provided by the Trenton High School band, Macy Henson and Bri Wilson (both of Trenton) and Tim Cassen of Milan. |

Trenton High School senior pitcher Scotlin Hurley and senior shortstop Maddie Hooyman have been recognized as ALL-STATE first team selections for the 2012 softball season. Both girls were key cogs in a Lady Bulldog team that lost only four games this season, and came within a run of advancing to the Class 3 "Final Four" in Springfield last month. |

Automobile Accidents : Pickup truck fire in Sullivan County injures two from Galt

The Highway Patrol reports that the contents in the bed of a pickup truck ignited, causing injuries on Thursday afternoon for two Galt residents. Fifty-seven year old Barbara Mann and her passenger, 49-year old Kenneth Pate, received minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan. |

Two people were hurt when a car went off a road in Chariton County, hit a bridge rail, and came to rest in a creek bed. A passenger, 22-year old Tiffany Samm of Mendon, was taken to Moberly Regional Medical Center with MODERATE injuries. The Patrol said the driver, 24-year old David Weil of Brunswick, was to seek treatment on his own for minor injuries. |

A Gilman City woman was hurt when an all-terrain vehicle overturned early Sunday morning in Gilman City. Twenty-two year old Joycelynn Still was taken by private vehicle to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany. The Highway Patrol said she had minor injuries. Ms. Still was a passenger on the ATV. |

KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Salisbury wins turnover battle, and District 6 football title at Milan, 20-9

An unbeaten run through the 2012 high school football season came to an end last night for the Milan Wildcats, who were beaten 20-9 in the Class 1, District 6 championship game at Cal Hubbard Field against the visiting Salisbury Panthers, in a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. The win sends Salisbury into Saturday afternoon's state quarterfinals with a season record of 11-1, while Milan finishes the season at 10-1. |

Automobile Accidents : Highway 190 rear-end collision injures two

Two people were hurt near Chillicothe when a car hit the rear of a sport utility vehicle which had stopped to make a left turn. The driver of the SUV, 41-year old Spencer Sutton of Chillicothe, was taken to Hedrick Medical Center with what the Highway Patrol called minor injuries. |

KTTN/KGOZ News : "Scouting For Food" drive nets 2,006 pounds across Trenton

The Scouting For Food drive in residential area in Trenton on Saturday resulted in the donation of more than 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items, paper products, and personal hygiene items. A $100.00 donation also was received. The 2,006 pounds was about 900 pounds BELOW average. |

During this year’s deer season, landowners and hunters can work together to improve the quality of the deer herd in their area by collecting important information once deer are harvested. Gathering data about the herd is the crucial first step in the practice of “Quality Deer Management” (QDM), said Bob Pierce, University of Missouri Extension wildlife specialist. |
